Injured Athlete Liaison
The bridge between your gymnast’s medical team and the gym they want to get back to.
Includes initial consult + three follow-up sessions
The gap between PT and the gym is where comebacks fall apart.
Gymnasts get hurt. They see a physical therapist who knows rehab but not gymnastics. The PT clears them, the coach doesn’t know what they can do, the athlete pushes too hard or too cautiously, and the comeback stalls.
Dr. Shira sits in that gap as a translator. She’s a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a 30-year gymnastics coach — so she can speak both languages, coordinate both teams, and design a return-to-sport path that gets athletes back stronger than they were before.
How a liaison engagement unfolds
Immediate virtual consult
As soon as you book, Dr. Shira gets on a call with the athlete (and parents/coach as appropriate) to understand the injury, the current treatment plan, and the goals. No waiting for a “first session” — the work starts the moment you reach out.
Coordination with local providers
Dr. Shira contacts the athlete’s PT, surgeon, or physician to align on what’s safe, what’s restricted, and what the rehab milestones look like. She translates clinical language into gym-language so coaches know exactly what’s possible.
Four direct training sessions
Hands-on (or virtual) sessions with the athlete to begin the return-to-sport progression. Drills mapped to their PT clearances, skills sequenced through the SHIRA layers, and confidence rebuilt one safe rep at a time.
Handoff back to the gym
By the end of the package, the athlete has a documented path forward and the home coach has a roadmap. Continuing sessions are available, but most athletes don’t need them — they’re rolling again.
Don’t let the comeback stall.
The earlier Dr. Shira gets involved, the smoother the return. If your athlete is recently injured — or already feeling stuck in the rehab process — book the initial consult and let’s get a real plan in place.
