Movement in action

The Framework

The Dynamic Movement Method

An integrated, science-based framework to facilitate critical thinking and real-time decision making in human movement. The science behind every program Dr. Shira designs.

Why It Exists

A movement framework that meets athletes where they are and equips coaches with what they need.

Most coaching frameworks treat skill, strength, and recovery as separate puzzles. The Dynamic Movement Method integrates them — so coaches can see why an athlete is stuck, not just where. Each step feeds the next: a clean Scan sharpens the Hypothesis, a targeted Intervention earns the right to Recalibrate, and only then do we Apply and Adapt for the long game.

The SHIRA Framework (The Continuous Loop)
S
Scan

Observe everything and formulate a question about the movement.

H
Hypothesize

Form a working theory about what is going on, why, and how you are going to fix it.

I
Intervene

Apply the smallest effective change — drill, manual technique, cue, or programming shift — and test it on the spot.

R
Recalibrate

Review the results and let the body’s response guide the next move.

A
Apply / Adapt

Take the win into training, sport, and life — and keep iterating as the athlete, season, and goals evolve.

Movement Systems Model

(Identify Constraints)

MAP
MAP the Individual

See the whole athlete — body, nervous system, and mindset.

SET
SET the Task

Match the challenge to the moment — difficulty, expectation, and stage of learning.

FRAME
FRAME the Environment

Context shapes performance. Account for everything around the work.

SHIRA guides you to MAP the Individual, SET the Task, and FRAME the Environment so you can BUILD the skill.

BUILD the Skill (Developing Solutions)

B

Breakdown

What does the skill require to perform it correctly?

U

Understand

What is going wrong and why?

I

Intervene

How do I create one success right now?

L

Link

Can the athlete connect the pieces?

D

Develop

How does this fit into the whole picture?

Who It’s For

One framework. Three audiences.

For Athletes

A clearer training map

Know what your body needs this session, not just what your program says. Train for the long game, not just the next meet.

For Coaches

An evidence-based lens

Diagnose plateaus, prevent injury, and explain progressions to athletes and parents in a language that holds up.

For Teams

A shared standard

Align your entire coaching staff around a common methodology so athletes get consistent training across levels and stations.

Apply The Framework

Ready to train this way?

Whether you want individual sessions, a team installation, or just a 30-minute Q&A — Dr. Shira will meet you where you are.
